No. I think it is hugely inflated to spread fear, suspicion and paranoia. It is hugely divisive, suggesting NO man can be trusted, it is putting a distance between men and children that is heart breaking. Police, teachers, doctors, writers, now all have a cloud of suspicion over them that they are paedophiles pretending to be ordinary people - invasion of the body snatchers, Part III. Nope, not buying it.

What is your evidence that it is inflated, hugely or otherwise?

 I provided a statistic the other day showing that more than 100,000 men in the UK had convictions for CSA  at a given point in recent years

 You surely acknowledge that those with actual convictions represents the tip of the iceberg? 

 So what is your issue with an estimate of 700,000?

 Where does it suggest that ''no man can be trusted''? There are 35 million men in the UK, give or take a million. 

 How does it ''put a distance between men and children''?

 Police, doctors, teachers, writers - all professions where convicted paedophiles were employed at the time of their arrest. 

 Your claim that they are ''pretending to be normal people'' is just so, so ignorant. That's what they are - paedophiles exist in every walk of life, every profession, every strata of society.

 If you don't know this basic fact, then what are you doing blogging on the topic?

If you have an expert stating there are 750,000 active paedophiles living and working amongst us as 'normal' people, it is bound to cause suspicion.
